Bingo has been played since around 1920 and has become a favorite pastime of many around the world. The game is typically played using a cards with 4 sets of numbers. An announcer reads out random numbers (within a predefined range) which the players compare to the numbers on their cards.
If a player has the same numbers as the announcer calls out arranged in a row or configuration before other players, then they win. For instance there may be a prize for marking off all numbers across one line, and of course the whole card. A player with a winning card then calls out “Bingo” to alert other players of their win. From there, the announcer checks the card to confirm the win which brings an end to that round of playing and starts another.
Players are always out to fill their card before each other which can create rather dramatic and tense situations, especially if multiple players all only require one number. Bingo games can be played across multiple venues (either casinos, both online and offline, or bingo halls) which can result in a huge jackpot to the winner. The game is based purely on chance as players cannot apply any sort of strategy to determine what numbers the announcer calls out. If anything this adds to the popularity of bingo with casual gamblers, as you stand as good a chance as any of winning.
